MHCA Board affirms Paulic nomination to MCSC
Peter Paulic, long-standing member of the MHCA Board and Chair of the WORKSAFELY™ and Education Committee, was confirmed as the association’s nominee for the Board of the Manitoba Construction Sector Council, at the June 24 meeting of the MHCA Board of Directors. Paulic is branch manager of Brandt Tractors.
He succeeds Gord Lee, a former MHCA Board Chair and president of Nelson River Construction, who is retiring from many years’ service on the MCSC board.
Paulic holds a mechanical engineering technology degree from Red River College and worked 25 years with Smook Brothers/Smook Contractors in Thompson, rising to the position of vice-president. His career with Smook included equipment operation, surveying, estimating, road supervisor, safety leader, operations manager. As vice-president Paulic was responsible for all aspects of the business operation in Thompson, including estimating, budgets, personnel, and capital purchases. He has worked with Brandt since 2016.
“Peter is a respected and engaged member of the MHCA Board of Directors,” MHCA President Chris Lorenc said. “In his 10 years of service with MHCA he has taken very active interest in all MHCA activities including the education and training programs offered by the MHCA, its WORKSAFELY™ Program and the MHCA vocational institution.”
Lorenc paid special tribute to Gord Lee, who has served on the MCSC board since 2011. Lee, P. Eng., holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the UofM and a Gold Seal Certificate in Project Management from the Canadian Construction Association, on whose board he has served. He also served as chair of the Western Canada Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association, and has represented the industry on the Construction Industry Wages Act Review Panel since 2009.
