‘Manitoba 150’ road works announced

Premier Brian Pallister rolled out a series of road projects to mark Manitoba’s 150th birthday. The province listed 17 projects, 14 of which are listed on the revised construction schedule available here.

Among the projects is the concrete reconstruction of Winnipeg’s Memorial Boulevard, from Broadway to York, including the restoration of the Memorial Park Fountain. The schedule notes that project should be tendered May 29.

“We have committed $45 million to infrastructure projects across the province that will leave a lasting legacy and help provide a better future for Manitobans to look forward to,” the premier said Tuesday, describing this as the first phase of the “Manitoba150” projects.

The $45 million, set aside in Budget 2019’s enabling appropriations, will be in addition to the $350 million Highways Capital program.

Other projects, scheduled to be tendered between April 30 and June 18, include:

  • Concrete rehabilitation on PTH 9 in Selkirk
  • Paving 19.7 kilometres of PR 326, to bring it to RTAC loading
  • Paving 2.6 kilometres of PTH 1A in Portage la Prairie

The other projects consist of paving, gravel road restorations and improvements, and intersection improvements.
