About the MHCA Committees

MHCA activities are driven by 10 committees that represent industry interests. All members are encouraged to participate. For more information contact us.

  • Executive – Oversees general management of all association affairs including public, government and stakeholder relations, and the finances of WORKSAFELY®.
  • Highways – Maintains liaison with the minister of Infrastructure and the department on issues affecting the road building side of the industry. Sub-committees include Spec Review and General Conditions of Contracts.
  • City of Winnipeg – Engages directly with Winnipeg’s City Council, its administration and the provicial government on industry issues related to the City of Winnipeg.
  • Membership – Develops strategies for membership promotion, attraction and retention.
  • Events – Manages the social events that provide for mixing between industry and government. Annual events include the MHCA Curling Classic, Spring Mixer, Breakfast with Leaders, Annual Golf Tournament, and the Chair’s Gala.
  • WORKSAFELY® & Education – Provides direction and guidance to the COR® program and training, and acts as a forum for stakeholders and industry to meet and discuss safety and health issues related to heavy construction.
  • Aggregate – Address aggregate producers’ issues on a province-wide basis.
  • Equipment Rental Rates – Develops, maintains and reviews on an annual basis, heavy equipment rental rates for publication in the MHCA Membership Directory and Equipment Rental Rates Guide. 
  • Nominations Committee – Recruits and recommends to the MHCA Annual General Meeting a list of qualified nominees for MHCA Board, Executive and Committee Chair positions.
  • WORKFORCE Development – Provides direction on the establishment of a workforce development strategy with a focus on attracting, training and developing a skilled and diverse workforce.

Close to 650pp attended from both industry, government and stakeholder partners.  It was the closing of Nicole Chabot’s two year term as Chair.  Dennis Cruise of Bituminex Paving was welcomed as the new Chair.

200 members and guests gathered to hear greetings from Premier Heather Stefanson and the newly elected Mayor of Winnipeg, Scott Gillingham. Hon. Doyle Piwniuk, Minister, Manitoba Infrastructure, handed out the MTI Awards.

31 companies were recognized for their milestone membership commitments.

Matthew Neziol, of Bayview Construction, received the Safety Leader Award.
